Agile Development and Software Configuration Management

January 10th, 2008 · 814 Comments

Formal Software Configuration Management is very much a part of the Agile Development process.  While implies more free-flowing work, the need for structure, especially in the area of configuration management, is still very much there.  The key is that supporting project management tools provide a ore flexible structure for managing project information.

Tool providers are responding.  In the news post “AccuRev Enables More Efficient Geographically Distributed Development at NaviMedix“,  the configuration management tool provided by AccuRev was chosen to replace IBM Rational ClearCase.

The clear signal hear is that ISVs that provide for application development environments are responding to the need for more agile products to support .
