Stephen R. Covey dies at the age of 79

, who has had such a positive influence on so many, has died. Here are my most memorable takeaways in the areas of time management and leadership.

I have read some of his books and also listened many times to his audio programs. The audio programs were so many times a great start to a day…and I still remember Dr. Covey, in his pleasant Irish accent, saying that the things that matter most should never fall victim to the things that matter least. It’s a rather simple concept…but very well communicated! He was very genuine.

Dr. Steven Covey

Another of my favorites was the idea of sitting down every week and writing down, at most, your top one or two priorities in each of seven key areas in your life. It has worked well for me…

One more that I remember was in his illustration of a "paradigm shift", where a man sitting on the training, and his kids were acting out of control around him, irritating other passengers. When one of the passengers had enough and asked the man to please calm down his kids, the man sorrowfully said that he was sorry, he just is not on top of things…that is wife, the children’s mother, had died and they had just been to the funeral not long ago. And at that moment, the man who had spoken up had a "paradigm shift".

Undoubtedly Dr. Covey’s work will live on. May he rest in peace. _____________________
